In general, car insurance companies do settle car insurance claims quickly. In doing so they are saving on cost. Quick settlement by asking the policyholder to sign a release denying further claims related to the accident.
But some car insurance companies make the tactical decision to delay settlements as long as they can without inviting lawsuits. Delays and denials is not a car insurance company’s ultimate policy. But by playing the denial game, it can achieve something almost as advantageous, a lengthy delay in paying the claim. The longer the car insurance company can hold on to its money, the better off it is.
As a car insurance policyholder, you don’t have to accept the delays.
Then, what should you do to collect your claim from the car insurance companies?
First you got to analyze the accident for how it might be covered by your car insurance policy; like liability, collision, medical expenses, uninsured motorists etc.
Consider all the claims you might be able to make following the accident. Based on your car insurance coverage and other type of insurance coverage, you might have.
Do no accept first offers or denials by the car insurance company as final. Car insurance company will delay or even denial claims if they possibly can. Ask for their explanations for the delays and denial as such. Gather all facts and refer to your car insurance policy, and try to decipher everything in the car insurance policy, talk to your car insurance agent or even to your lawyer if necessary.
